This piece is about release.
I stopped trying to contain the figure and allowed the colour to take the lead. As the painting developed, it became clear that the movement wasn’t coming from her alone, it was building around her, lifting her into it.
What interests me is this relationship between figure and space.
Not just how the body moves, but how the space itself begins to hold and carry it.
