There's something wonderful about those moments when a dancer seems to forget everything around them and simply surrender to the movement. No hesitation, no restraint, just the freedom to express themselves.
That's the feeling I wanted to capture in Free to Fly. The dancer emerges through expressive layers of soft greens, blush pinks and flashes of warmer colour, while her movement gradually dissolves into the surrounding paint. There's a sense of spontaneity and release, as though the energy of the moment extends far beyond the figure itself.
For me, this painting is about the joy of letting go, of feeling completely free, even if only for a moment.
